I love Vacations!

Okay, let me start off this post with my weigh-in.  I so appreciate all the kind, supportive words from you guys last post.  I won't quit my journey, but it gets so frustrating sometimes when you try so hard and nothing comes of it.  This weeks loss is .4 lbs.  I guess I should just be happy that it's a down number instead of an up, like last week, but I'm still just a bit disappointed.   I'm just gonna keep trucking along and hopefully the number on the scale will be lower next week.

So.....VACATION!  I may have written about this already, I'm not sure, but I'm so excited I have to write about it again.  Cody and I decided that we are gonna take a SUPER quick, 4 day trip down to Orlando for Disney's International Food and Wine Festival!  I have been down in Florida during that time, but never really gone and experienced it before.  We are taking a Monday-Thursday trip in October.  We are only going to have 2 days at the parks, because Monday and Thursday will be for traveling, but I'm still super excited! Because we are trying to make this an affordable trip, we are going to be staying at the All-Star resort (probably Music, but maybe Movies).  We got SO lucky, because they are doing Free Dining during the time we're there! YAY!  Cody explained to me last night that this trip is his trip, and the trip in February is my trip.  Therefore, I think we are going to be upgrading our free dining package.  Because we're staying at a value resort, we get the free quick service dining plan.  2 Quick Service meals and 1 snack each night we're at resort. So, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.  But because we're such foodies, and Cody really wants to experience as much of the Disney food as possible, I think we're going to upgrade to the Deluxe Dining Plan.  That includes 3 Table Service meals a night, and 2 Snacks.  If we have done our math right, it should be about $50 per person per day to upgrade.  At some of the Table Service restaurants, we could easily be spending more than $50 a person on just one meal, so it's such a good deal!  This will give us an opportunity to do things I've never done before, like some Character Breakfasts, or eat at some of the amazing restaurants in the world showcase in Epcot!  We can even use 2 of our meal credits to eat at some of the more expensive restaurants.  Cody has been looking it up online, and there was a couple who upgraded to the free dining for 2 days, and they figured out that they racked up a bill of over $700, just in meals.  They only paid $200 to upgrade to the Deluxe dining plan, just like we would, so they saved $500 in meals!  Such a good deal.

And, to top it all off, we will be going there when Hanson is playing at Epcot for the Eat to the Beat Concert Series!!! Don't judge....but Hanson is my favorite band.  I've seen them more times than I'd really like to admit (okay, okay...somewhere in the 25 range, but it's been over a period of 11 years!).  I can't even imagine getting to combine my 4 favorite things....My husband, Disney, Hanson, and food!!!

Okay I gotta go, we're getting ready to book the trip right now! :)

Getting past the bump in the road

I can't put my finger on why, but I've been feeling very unmotivated lately.  When I first started running/going to the gym, I didn't have any issues getting up early and going.  I generally sleep until 9, 9:30, except on Gym days, when I get up at 7.  For some reason, the last week or two, I haven't been able to pull myself out of bed as frequently.  I have managed to go at least twice in the last week, but there were two days where I set my alarm and either slept through it, or turned it off and went right back to sleep.

I think I'm just finding myself discouraged.  I was able to get up to 8 minutes straight of running before my race, and I took a couple of weeks off of running (I was still walking, through) and now 90 seconds of running is pushing it.  I feel like, I've been running since February, I should be a little bit further!  Maybe I'm just not pushing myself far enough?  I don't know.  It's making me feel like I just am not meant to run.  I'm going to keep at it, but I just wish I'd show SOME progress, ya know?

I found a 10k app on my phone that I decided I'm going to do, it's from the same company as the 5k app I used, so we'll see.  I think I'll try to complete that, and then I'll take on the half marathon program.  I like having the app because I don't have to sit and watch the time, it will beep for me.  And until I get some kind of something like a garmin that I can program, the phone app will have to do.

I had my weigh-in this morning.  I'm down to 247.4, which is a 2.8lb loss!  Which brings my total to 12.8lbs so far! yay!

Well, it's my Saturday so I think I'd better get ready to go and do something.  Have a great day!

Week 2

Today is Monday, which means it's weigh in day! I got up and got right on the scale, and I am down 4.2lbs, which means I've lost a total of 10lbs!! YAY ME!!  I'm super excited, I don't think I've ever been able to make it this long, so I'm super proud.

Todays run was only okay. I accidentally slept in on Saturday when I was supposed to do the last day of week 1 (which is technically week 2 of my training, since I skipped the first week), so today I started on week 2.  It's just 90 seconds of running and 90 seconds of walking, but or some reason it was super hard!  I was able to do the full 90 seconds for the first mile, but the second mile, I had to cut it short and only did 60 second runs.  I don't know why it's always so hot in the cardio room at the YMCA but geeeeeez...it makes me sweat SO MUCH.  I think that may be part of the reason I got tired.....who knows.  I'm for sure not skipping any runs this time.  I'm supposed to take Thursday and Friday off, but I may end up running one of those days.  Depends on how I'm feeling, I guess.

Today was a pretty fun day.  It was our day off, so we went and had lunch with his brother, and then came home so we could pick up Remy, and brought her to the dog beach.  It was her first time at the beach, and even though she was by the water at the campground last week, I think the size of the lake scared her (we live right on Lake Michigan, so the beach is HUGE) and the waves were loud.  She was more interested in playing with the other dogs than playing in the water.

Which is a good thing, because tomorrow we are going down south to a cute little town that has a bunch of cool shops and restaurants, and we're going to drop Remy off at a Doggie Daycare down there.  We have a daycare around here that we want to bring her to, but it's really expensive, and we aren't sure how she's gonna do.  The one we're taking her to tomorrow will give us her first day for free, so we figured this would be a good opportunity to see how she does, before paying to take her somewhere.

Okay, time for bed! :)

Bad Weigh In, Good Workout

My weight today is 254.4lbs, which means a .2 gain.  I kinda assumed I'd have a gain. I really have done crappy with what I ate this week.  I'm going to have to try to get better with that this week, because I saw a 0lb loss last week, and a gain this week, I'd love to see at least a little bit of a loss next week!

Don't you love days when your workout is just awesome?  Today I woke up, and even though I'd barely gotten 5 hours of sleep, I was wide awake and ready to hit the gym.  I started doing this half marathon training plan today.  I actually started on the second days work out.  The first day calls for 30 seconds of running, and 60 seconds of walking for 2 miles, and I just felt like I was more advanced than that.  Today, I did 60 seconds of running and 90 seconds of walking. I'm further along than that, too, but I still wanted to start strong, and even though I probably could have run for a longer amount of time, I still was SO sweaty at the end! I was dripping sweat, which hardly ever happens for me.  I felt good at the end, and I still feel good, which is awesome considering we're getting ready to head up north to go camping! Expect some pictures tomorrow when I get back! :)

Decisions, Decisions....

Well first of all, let me start out by saying, I had my weigh in again today....down another 3 lbs! yay me! I am pretty sure, as I said before, that my scale is a liar though, because I weighed myself on Saturday at my moms house on her scale, and it said 249, so I think we need a new scale.  Either way, yay for 3lbs!

Okay, so my decisions....remember how I had that interview, and I said it went great? Well, I had sent out a thank you email a few days ago, and got a reply last night from the District Manager, Ryan.  He basically said in the email that the GM had nothing but good things to say about me and that he thinks I'll be a great addition and would have a lot to add to the team, and Ryan thinks this also.  When I worked there before, I was a server/bartender, plus I was a shift manager, and I was the head trainer (I basically was in charge of the whole training program), so I have done a lot and have a lot of knowledge about the restaurant and how they work.  The problem that Ryan sees, however, is that there are a few people who I worked with who still work there, and he thinks it might be a hard transition for them, from me being kind of like their equal, to have leaving, to coming back as their superior.  His exact words were "We both feel that there are still quite a few team members still employed at [my old restaurant] that may possible make for a more difficult transition from your previous role to a management role.  This is by no means an indictment on you, just a possible concern that we feel could possibly detract from your growth and development as well as any momentum that has currently been achieved with the existing management team and staff."

With that being said, he said that there are some possible changes that are going to be happening, and that there is very likely going to be a position for me at a different restaurant. The only problem is, that restaurant is a 45 minute drive.  The one that I thought I was applying for is only 10 minutes away.  Now, I don't have an issue with driving....but we just bought a house, and it's almost as far away as you can get from the other restaurant, before it would be completely out of the question.  Cody and I figured out, it'd be about $10 a day in gas.  My other concern is weather.  I live in Michigan - and it snows. A lot sometimes.  If the weather is bad, it could take me over an hour to get to work/home.  Not to mention, dangerous.  The only good thing, is that the drive there and back is 100% highway, which makes the drive easy.

It's such a great opportunity, and I don't want to skip out on it just because it's a long drive.  I don't have much management experience, and while I did go to culinary school and got a Bachelors Degree in Food and Beverage Management, that's often not enough for you to get a job - most restaurants want experience.  This would be the perfect opportunity for me to learn a lot and get the experience under my belt.  Not to mention, I'd get 2 weeks paid vacation, free insurance for me and Cody, and I'd be making about twice as much as I make now.  It seems too good to pass up, but man, I don't want to drive almost an hour every day to and from work!

What would you do if you were me?
