My name is Karen, and I am overweight! I am married to a wonderful man who also happens to be a Chef, and we recently purchased a restaurant. We have a 2 year old daughter named Elliot and I am on a journey to change my bad habits and show her how to live a healthy life.
I've never been much of a physical girl, which I suppose is why I am the size that I am. I will just get it out there now.....I'm 5'7", and 270lbs.
I have tried to lose weight so many times, but each time, it was by diet only. I am hoping to figure out how to balance food and exercise in order to find a way to get rid of this extra weight.
My husband and I are huge foodies and we want to raise our daughter to grow up appreciating food and all the different ways it can be prepared. It is tough to be a foodie and trying to eat healthy. I have struggled to find a way to continue to take part in our favorite hobby (eating!) while not going overboard.
I am going out of my comfort zone fitness wise, and I have been attending fitness classes, including spin class, which I am loving. I also have been working with a trainer once a week in hopes that she can show me ways to build my strength and endurance.
You do have it tough being surrounded by so much yummy food! Great job though and I think that having such a massive goal like the Princess Half is going to make all the difference! Plus all of us checking up on you, lol! Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeleteGood for you for setting this goal. I am out to lose 150 lbs and have lost 30 thus far. I decided 2 weeks ago that I would like to go the Princess 1/2 Marathon. I did the Tangled 5K this past February. It was my 1st 5K and I walked it, but it was amazing. I will be checking in to see how you are doing and no doubt we will be able to support each other through this medium!
ReplyDeleteYou are a beautiful bride!
ReplyDeleteI have a goal of doing the Disney Princess 1/2 Marathon as well!
So I don't think I've ever posted on here before, but I've been following you off and on for about 2 months. I just wanted to say congrats on your progress so far! I have about 50 lbs to lose and I've been "working" on it for awhile, but just started taking it seriously again a few weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, my best friend and I are signing up for the Disney Princess Half marathon too. I asked her about 6 months ago if she'd do it with me - and we've been planning ever since! Registration opens on Tuesday! Eeek! So excited!
I just started the Hal Higdon Novice 1 training program. I like it so far and it's a 12 week program (I'm running my first half in October). I'm starting it now because I'm signed up for a 10 mile in August (crazy), plus it gives me extra weeks to repeat weeks if needed. :)
Anyway, good luck and good job!
I know this is an older post but I'll be running that too!!!
ReplyDeleteHey there! Found your blog through Runsforcookies and I had to comment because we're in very similar situations! I'm also a newlywed (10/2011) who's losing weight and gearing up for her first half! It's not the Disney Princess Marathon, however. I couldn't get anyone to do that race with me. It looks so fun and I'm sure you'll have an absolute blast! Hope the training's going well!
